How Your Refresher Flows

Skill Review in Confined Water
- Mask/regulator clearing, sharing air, buoyancy drills
- Weights and trim for comfort

Gear & Safety Check
Refresh pre‑dive checks, hand signals, ascent procedures, and local site briefing.

Optional Ocean Dives
Put refreshed skills into practice with relaxed reef dives alongside a local dive professional who stays by your side—from the five-mile boat ride offshore to the safety stop—so you can prioritize the skills you want to polish most.
Pool Skills We Sharpen Together
Your refresher begins in calm, waist-deep water where we rebuild confidence step by step. It is an extended practice block dedicated to the questions you have, the skills you want to revisit, and the scenarios you would like to rehearse before heading offshore. Our instructors move at your pace so you can focus on technique rather than keeping up with a large group.
Your refresher curriculum includes:
- Gear assembly
Rebuild your kit from scratch so hose routing, weight placement, and safety checks become automatic again. - Hand signals & buddy comms
Refresh standard PADI signals, slate shortcuts, and how to brief a plan with your teammate topside and underwater. - Air management refresh
Revisit SAC rate tracking, minimum return pressures, and simple turn-pressure math you can run in your head. - Essential scuba skills
Hovering, mask removal, regulator recovery, controlled ascents, and SMB deployment—practiced until they feel smooth again. - Emergency protocols
Review air sharing, lost buddy procedures, and surface signaling so you know exactly how to respond if something feels off. - Buoyancy training
Dial in breathing patterns and trim—because the steadier you hover, the more wildlife you see. - Local tips & tricks
Learn how we navigate the local mooring lines, currents, and boat etiquette unique to Key Largo. - Confidence for offshore dives
We rehearse the entire dive flow so you feel ready long before we head the five miles out to the reefs.
Practice, Ask Questions, Then Dive the Reefs
The refresher is as much about rebuilding muscle memory as it is about giving you the space to explore new techniques. We schedule generous practice windows, encourage you to bring real-world scenarios, and make sure every diver boards the boat knowing the plan for the day.
- Air & dive planning refresh
Run through gas plans and tablet-based dive logs before we even leave the dock. - Emergency walk-throughs
Practice controlled ascents, lost buddy searches, and surface signaling until it feels second nature again. - Buoyancy tune-ups
Work on breathing drills, fin pivots, and trim adjustments with immediate coaching before we reach the reef moorings. - Local tips & site insights
Hear what conditions to expect five miles offshore, where marine life congregates, and how to navigate the mooring lines like a local. - Open Q&A with your pro
Use the dock briefing and surface interval to ask about gear upgrades, specialty courses, or any "what if" scenario on your mind.
By the time we drop down on the reef, you will have rehearsed every stepfrom giant stride to safety stop—so the ocean dive feels like a celebration of everything you just practiced.
