Questions

Key West Vandenberg Wreck Dive Trip FAQs

Answers are rendered as plain HTML and mirrored in FAQPage structured data, so they can win rich results and answer the questions that stop bookings.

What are the departure times for the Vandenberg dive trip?

Most trips offer 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM departures. Morning check‑in is 7:45 AM (gear fitting 8:00, boarding 8:15, depart 8:30; return ~12:00). Afternoon check‑in is 12:45 PM (return ~5:00 PM).

How deep is the Vandenberg wreck dive in Key West?

The Vandenberg was sunk in about 140 ft of water. Much of the superstructure is roughly 40–50 ft below the surface, with deeper sections down the hull—this is an advanced-style wreck dive.

Is the Vandenberg suitable for newer divers?

It’s an advanced-style wreck due to depth and conditions. If you’re newer, consider starting with Key Largo reefs or shallower wrecks first.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll help you reschedule. Sometimes we’ll switch sites to find calmer water while still delivering a great trip.

How can I prevent seasickness?

Consider a non‑drowsy motion-sickness med, hydrate, and avoid heavy meals. Being on deck with fresh air also helps.

Is the Vandenberg wreck an advanced dive?

Depth and current can make it advanced. We’ll brief the plan and confirm suitability based on your certification and experience.

Where is the check‑in location in Key West?

Your booking confirmation lists the exact marina and arrival instructions. Double‑check it so you arrive at the right location.

What should I bring?

Bring a photo ID, towel, reef‑safe sunscreen, and any personal gear you prefer. If you’re diving, bring your certification card and dive computer.

How long is the boat ride to the site?

Travel time depends on the site and sea conditions. We’ll brief approximate travel time at check‑in and select the best sites for the day.

Can I bring a camera on this wreck dive?

Absolutely. Just make sure you’re comfortable with buoyancy first—wrecks are great for wide-angle shots.

What’s included on the Vandenberg trip?

2-tank boat trip; Crew support; Site briefing & safety briefing

Do you use a descent/ascent line on wreck dives?

Yes—when conditions call for it, we use the mooring/descent line to manage current and keep the dive controlled.
